Despite his distant nature, he is devoted to Buer and will go to great lengths to help the Traveler and Paimon rescue Nahida, even faking his own insanity to fool Azar. He deeply cares for his allies, such as Nilou, and is willing to risk his own safety to free the banished, innocent mad scholars. While his actions are often motivated by personal reasons, he is not entirely self-centered, as demonstrated by his involvement in the plot to free Nahida.
