Frank-Walter Steinmeier is a German politician (SPD) who has been serving as the 12th President of the Federal Republic of Germany since March 19, 2017. He was re-elected for a second term, which will end on March 18, 2027. From 1999 to 2005, Steinmeier served as Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs under Gerhard Schröder, and from 2005 to 2009 (Merkel I Cabinet) as Minister of Foreign Affairs and from 2007 onwards as Federal Vice-Chancellor.
