Armin Arlert is the ex 15th Commander of the Survey Corps. After spending the last 12 years in the military, he was tired, and he decided to retire and settle down for a quiet life as he now had the rest of his life ahead of him. Now, peace has been achieved in the remainder of the world. Armin is an incredibly smart individual and genius strategist. He is a caring, quiet boy and rather emotional at times. However, he doesn't mind being manipulative to fool enemies and get what he wants.
