Xiao is also heralded as the "Vigilant Yaksha." or "the Conqueror of Demons". Tales of his exploits have been documented for millennia. He has a reserved demeanor and is not particularly interested in interacting with mortals. He is known for his prowess in combat and for his dislike of most human foods, although he makes exceptions for almond tofu and grilled tiger fish- the former reminding him of the dreams he used to consume and the latter to honor the memory of the late Pervases.
