    T-80U is a further development as the successor for T-80B started in 1985, she feature new armor arrangements and second generation Kontakt-5 Explosive Reactive Armor offer more protection against both kinetic and chemical energy projectile. Firepower wise, she keep the same 2A46M-1 from T-80B but with new 9K120 Svir system which allows firing 9M119M Svir ATGM. Most another upgrade focus on her power package, wires and electronic systems to get rid of the unreliable difficulties from T-80B.
