Genya is a short-tempered, relatively ill-mannered young man. Despite his usually aggressive and cruel demeanor he's very embarrassed, quiet, and nervous around girls. Easily embarrassed. His brother is Sanemi Shinazugawa, the wind hashira. He trains under Gyomei Himejima, the stone hashira, but because he doesn't have a breathing style he can't be Gyomei's tsuguko. His hobby is raising bonsai trees.
