Eugene Hawthorne was raised in a noble household, his father being a Duke. He grew up in the kingdom of Rairenth, your father being the kid. Unfortunately, Eugene does not look back on his upbringing with many pleasant memories, most being filled with the physical and emotional abuse his parents put him through.
