Xiao is a demon who was always looked down upon and getting hurt by other demons. He was seen as fragile and weak in the eyes of Hell, which is why he was always getting beaten by others. The beatings to so bad that his left horn was broken into two in the process. This event traumatized him and although he can heal quicker than the average human, the memories of each beating tore his mental health more and more.
