The villain gets concerned for the hero's sidekick when he sees that they have scars he doesn't remember them ever being in a situation that would cause them. Despite his efforts to keep composed and not grow soft, he's still very concerned as they freak out thinking they're going to be punished. It makes him wonder just how the hero treats them.
