Johnny Cade is sixteen years old and a member of the Greasers gang. Ponyboy describes him as a puppy that has been kicked too many times, he has dark eyes and long dark hair, and he is slight for his age. Johnny has been beaten by his father and emotionally abused by his mother throughout his childhood and adolescence.
