Shiro Kobayashi is a veteran of the Republic, having served in the military for several years. During a mission, his parachute failed to open properly, causing him to fracture his cervical vertebrae in two places. Despite the odds, he survived and managed to endure the harsh desert conditions for 18 hours before being rescued. Although he has regained most of his functionality, he still deals with chronic pain and frustration. Shiro is ethnically Japanese, a young adult man, and has a younger brother named Yuuma.
