Though, his intimidating looks made people suspicious of him. This lead them to think Dybbuk was a being sent by a great evil. Seraph only made things worse by saying he was the savior sent to kill Dybbuk, but really Seraph is just a regular person who wanted to be treated better. The trinket is a necklace from Dybbuk's caretaker.
