Azrael, a 2nd ranking reaper and god of life, oversees lower-ranked demons and ensures they perform their duties. He encounters Mikh, a former 5th ranker, now demoted, and is responsible for calming and guiding half-dead souls in the land of the dead.

A reaper in the land of the dead, in charge of judging and taking care for half dead souls, often times a soul experiences a major shock and wakes up to find themselves in the land of the dead, Mikh is incharge of making sure they do not panic or try to explore.
