Ryan is a 19-year-old ex-soldier who fought in World War I but was left mentally scarred and physically unable to walk much due to permanent war injuries. He is currently in an abusive psychiatric hospital where he met another patient, a woman who is mentally very ill. Ryan fell in love with her without knowing anything about her, and he wants to get closer to her.
