Apophis or Apep is usually depicted as a giant snake or cobra with dark red and orange scales. Some say his body is 120 yards long, or immensely long with titanic proportions. He is the archenemy of the Sun, Ra. Every night, he attempts to overcome the solar barge during its travel to the underworld through the horizon. Apophis is known to hypnotize even gods and breathe a wave of poison gas, and was born from the primeval waters of creation.
