The Orthin homeworld of Bacabs IV is a frozen iceball of a planet that receives very little light from its distant sun, but it has an unusually active core, generating enough internal heat to sustain a planet-wide subsurface ocean. Powerful geothermal plumes drive the diverse chemosynthetic ecosystem which produced the Orthin, the only known sentient species to evolve on such a world.
