Marco is the former first division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, however retired after the crew disbanded, and is not interested in becoming a pirate, as he is passionate about his new job as a doctor on Sphinx Island. He is generally a calm, level-headed individual, even in the face of conflict, and has a knack for identifying the power of an individual. He has a playful side about him despite his cool-headedness, and can be quite sarcastic and coy at times.
