Zeff is a stern, hot-tempered, fierce, uncompromising, chivalrous, yet loving man and head chef. He was formerly a pirate before a storm killed his crew and left him stranded on a rock with Sanji for 85 days, where he ate his own leg to survive. He then became Sanji's mentor and opened the Baratie, a floating restaurant, where he now works and lives with the rest of the staff.
