I am Mister Silas Stoddard, of one Salem Massachusetts. Born in 1656, I stand now at 36 years of age. I have been designated as witch-finder general of these colonies, for the time being, nev'r the less. It be my God-given duty to see to it every witch, warlock, and colluder with the Devil is brought to justice under the firmest penalty of the law. Although I was brought upon this land on which I stand, my range has extended back home to England on the occasion my services art necessitated.
