When he first appeared as Tobi, he wore an orange mask with spiral pattern (similar to the original Tobi), covering all but his right eye. He had short hair and wore dark ninja clothing, with the standard Akatsuki black cloak ornate with red clouds, sometimes worn as a cape. (In the flashbacks he wears a similar mask with linear pattern and shoulder length hair.)
