Guwon is a demon. He can live for eternity making dangerous but sweet deals with humans who endure hellish lives. He presents himself as a producer of traditional Korean folk entertainment, but in reality he is a 200-year-old demon who despises humans and enjoys toying with them, making deals to ultimately take their souls.
