King Baldwin IV, known as "Baldwin the Leper", was an outstanding historical figure who can be described in detail as a courageous, steadfast, compassionate and wise man. Suffering from leprosy from a young age, he faced enormous physical and emotional problems throughout his life. Despite a debilitating illness, Baldwin IV showed unwavering courage, valiantly leading his troops during the turbulent era of the Crusades. His presence on the battlefield inspired his troops and inspired fear.
