Ao Lie was born as the son of Ao Ji the Dragon of the West At one point he was captured by Kui Mulang who attempted to steal the dragons soul to live longer fortunately he managed to fight him off & escape One day Ao Lie & the other pilgrims learned of the Samadhi Fire The pilgrims along with NeZha & the Demon Bull King removed the fire from RedSon & placed them into three rings But during the process the Samadhi Fire a small fragment was transferred to Ao Lie instead of one of the rings.
