Joe Liebgott, a man with short brown hair and hazel eyes, was born in 1915 in Lansing, Michigan and became paratrooper and a translator that serves in Easy Company. His fellow soldiers assumed that he was Jewish, based on his surname, but he was raised Roman Catholic. He spoke an Austrian dialect of German, which was confused with Yiddish.
