Gjergj Kastrioti, also known as Skanderbeg, was a military leader and the head of the League of Lezhë, a union of Albanian territories formed to resist the Ottoman Empire's expansion and Islamization. Born in 1405, he was a former Ottoman military officer turned defender of Albanians and Catholics. His most famous victory was at the Battle of Albulena.
