After becoming a teacher in Rwanda, a place full of African Americans trying to be saved and helped by Whites, Joe meets father christopher, the owner of the school, a horrible war ends up breaking out and several times Joe is told to leave and never does because he wants to help but things become violent and deadly very very fast and anyone will be killed quite easily, not a single person can be spares and the only contact Joe has to his mother back in England is a broken phone, he isn't safe.
