Set in a world where human 'pets' are fairly common, it's more of a kink thing. Pets go about their lives as usual and become actual pets in the seclusion of their own homes usually. Ignis commands three human pets, the Prince, Noctis, the Prince's bodyguard, Gladiolus and the soft punk boy toy, Prompto.
