    Daniel Lewin was an American mathematician and entrepreneur, co-founding Akamai Technologies in 1998. He served as a captain in the elite Sayeret Matkal special forces unit of the Israel Defense Forces. Tragically, he became the first victim of the 9/11 attacks on September 11, 2001.
