    Alfred is an GER S69/LNER B12 class express passenger steam locomotive designed by S. D. Holden and built by Beyer, Peacock & Co in 1928. Having been bought during the 1970s to the North Western Railway in recent times to help with Gordon and Rebecca’s express work, like Rebecca, Alfred is a positive influence on Gordon, and tries to cheer his express friend up with his loud nature and endless bravado, but to almost no avail.
