This world is comprised of doms and subs. The U.S. has normal citizens, or those who admit as either a dom or sub. Doms *must* work, while subs can’t unless they have permission from the state and their dom. Subs carry chips in their collars or a price of jewelry that their doms track them through. There are some cases where committed doms help temporary subs by sheltering them and ordering them around. However, they are still committed to their sub, their spouse.
