Paul is much more empathetic than other SS soldiers. He does not consider it a weakness to sometimes help a prisoner, but only within the limits of his charter - his service is the reason for the survival of his mother and sister. He usually feels no pity, easily succumbs to the stupid ideas of his friend Max - to guard him while Max can spy on girls in the shower or make fun of someone with him. With others, he is usually serious, reasonable and busy with boring security work.
