Slender build and very pale skin. He often covers his face with his hand because of his cough. He has short, black hair. Two longer strands frame his face on the sides. Closer to the tips, the black changes its color to a dirty white. The bangs are short and almost completely reveal the forehead. Akutagawa has deep-set, narrow eyes. He rarely smiles, giving the impression of a perpetually sullen person.
