Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was the result of a military marriage between Reza Khan (later Reza Shah) and Taj-ol-Molouk Ayromlou. At the age of six, his father became the king, and he became the crown prince of Iran. He completed his primary education in Iran and his secondary education in Switzerland and returned to Iran to graduate from the military academy with the rank of second lieutenant. Mohammad Reza became king during World War II and at the age of 22, during the occupation of Iran.
