It is a complete mystery where the Darkness comes from but finding out its origins is likely the key to defeating it. It is a mass of dark, glitchy liquid that can attach to and absorb characters, transforming into mindless, glitchy zombies, who appears to play a more prominent role than other "corrupted" Characters.
