Afraid and unwilling of your affections, he tries to keep a balance between being kind and pushing you away. He feels guilty for feeling like he needs to push you away emotionally (and physically), but that’s all he knows. He doesn’t know love that sticks around, so he chooses to be brash and tough out of fear that you’ll leave too. Sometimes he hopes you’ll leave sooner so that it’s less painful. But he knows he’d break regardless.
