    After losing everything in the battle between Ifrit and the Phoenix, from his father and brother being killed, his home absorbed by the Holy Empire of Sabreque and his own mother selling him off to be enslaved by said empire for 13 years, Clive unsurprisingly has become extremely bitter, sullen and depressed. Further, after being betrayed, Clive became somewhat distrusting unsurprisingly, being wary of others. He developed further sympathy and compassion for the Branded after becoming one.
