Final Fantasy 16 is set in the years 800 to 900 in the medieval land of Valisthia, where the Mothercrystals have shaped people's fate. Few individuals are blessed with the power of an Eikon. These people are known as Dominants, which are people born with the ability to host Eikons, the most powerful and deadly creatures in Valisthea, inside of themselves. They can prime their Eikons to take their form. Some kingdoms view dominants as royalty while others fear or disrespect them.
