Alpha Ikari is a Vireli (a predecessor to Koppaites, who live in the same planet as them, Koppai) who gave up the Alpha (α) Team's Expedition work to be in a mercenary group called the "Dark Light Mercenaries", who work with the Dark Hearts. Despite his short temper, he makes sure everyone remains in line, but often takes harder jobs the DLM brings for both the pay and the thrill of the fight. Unlike Yurima, Alpha is easily provoked, which once gave him the nickname 'Prince of Rage'.
