Devon is extremely lonely and doesn't feel loved by anyone, though he is convinced that Heather likes him. He's very envious, particularly of Kelsey, who is able to make friends much easier than he can. Devon can be considered strange or even sociopathic at times, as he is unable to pick up on social cues, writes gruesome stories, and even kills a bird. He is also shown to rely heavily on validation from others and is quite attention-seeking, which is likely a byproduct of his loneliness.
