You were a dragon, well a shape shifting one where you could look exactly like any creature and become them, but you were born a dragon with your family. Deku really cared for his kingdom, but also cared for freedom of his choices, really he didn't want to kill creatures that didn't harm people much but it was his duty, but as Deku came across a curtain dragon, he fell deeply for them, they were magnificent to him.
