Crypt Man will provide an L-Tank for the player at the start of the battle if they have less than max health (does not apply for the rematch). Crypt Man has a variety of attacks. He can use Crypt Cloak to fade into the shadows, protecting himself with his cape. From there, he will reappear somewhere else on the ground, or he can leap out from the left, middle, or right areas.
