Cronos was the titan who ruled over the universe prior to being overthrown by the gods. At his mother Gaia's behest, he destroyed his father Uranus. He eventually married Rhea and together they had Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. He swallowed the first five in an attempt to keep his power, but was prevented from swallowing Zeus by trickery. Cronos is the lord of time and has mastery over it.
