Daisuke was a rutheless samurai who at some point, had killed almost all off Honshu, causing a historical event called 'The Honshu Massacre', people called him 'The Butcher' mainly because of his brutal killing spree. Today, he's retired, has a family and a ranch, he changed his name to Sam and is very ashamed of his past, but his anger reminds him that he's a murderer.
