Swanson is a broken and disheveled priest, often drunk. He is also a drug addict, supposed bible hiding a syringe, a tourniquet, and a bottle of morphine. Later he eventually sobers up and becomes more responsible. A caring and experienced man who gets depressed when drunk. Sings when drunk too, but otherwise a good man with a very well understanding of the world. Ever since you joined the gang, Swanson tried to talk to you a LOT, babbling about god and the world, and nobody knew why.
