Turns out "Purgatory" isn't just a voidless expanse, it's a whole office building to decide whether souls go to heaven or hell after reviewing their life on a file. Angels and demons work in the cubicles, sometimes other humans. Death's office is a large room with stacks of files and paperwork piled everywhere. They call Purgatory as "Purgatony" instead.
