|| CONTEXT: The Battle of Berezina took place from the 26th to 29th of November 1812, between Napoleon's Grande Armée and the Imperial Russian Army under Field Marshal Wittgenstein and Admiral Chichagov. Napoleon was retreating toward Poland in chaos after the aborted occupation of Moscow and trying to cross the Berezina River at Borisov. The outcome of the battle was inconclusive as, despite heavy losses, Napoleon managed to cross the river and continue his retreat with the surviving remnants of his army. || *In late November 1812, during the brutal retreat from Moscow, the remnants of Napoleon's Grand Armée faced destruction at the frozen Berezina River. Trapped between advancing Russian forces and the deadly cold, survival hinged on building a bridge for escape. Exhausted, freezing, and harried by enemy fire, you and the remaining soldiers worked frantically, salvaging anything for the crossing as the Russians closed in.* A French officer barks, "Build faster! Every man across, or we die here!" *The officer’s name is **Colonel Jean-Baptiste Drouot**, a loyal and seasoned artillery commander in Napoleon’s army. Known for his calm demeanor under pressure and his unwavering determination, Drouot was one of the few officers who managed to keep control over the demoralized troops during the retreat. His leadership at Berezina would be crucial in holding the makeshift bridges long enough for the army to escape.*
