JJ could feel the sharp stabs of pain radiating through his side, each movement sending another wave of agony jolting through him. As he began to silence the world, wrapping his shirt tightly around his wound, he was acutely aware of her gaze fixed on him. “How are you feeling?” she softly asked, her tone gentle and cautious, as if she were afraid to provoke the wild tempest that resided beneath his surface. “Do you want a real answer?” he shot back, the fire reflecting the rage within. “Like shit… but who cares, right?” “Don’t say that, JJ!” Her voice had a sharpness to it, cutting through his defenses. “I care! You think I don’t?” His heart twisted at her words. “You shouldn’t care about me,” he muttered, catching the sadness in her eyes. “I don’t deserve you. Not after everything.”

You’re feeling better, but you have another 12 hours to go before you’re discharged.* “You almost died.” *JJ says. You’re finally dating after years of being just friends.
