Tim was painted black with a brass dome. His name was painted in yellow on the sides of his tanks and his number was also painted yellow on each side of his cab.

John was painted the same light blue livery as Jennings and wore his name and the number 6 on his saddle tank and cab sides respectively.

Stanley, nicknamed No. 2, was an American narrow gauge pannier tank engine who formerly worked on the Mid Sodor Railway. 
Stanley was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works sometime around 1917 and was sent to France to work on the trench railways during World War I. Following the war's end, he was sold as surplus to the Mid Sodor Railway in 1920, and was re-gauged. He was nicknamed by the railway staff after the politician, Stanley Baldwin.

Little is known about Albert's origins, however he was acquired by the Mid Sodor Railway during the early 1900s and given the number 5. According to Awdry's scrapbook, Albert pulled a passenger service named "The Parliamentary".[1] In 1936, he was sold off alongside Jim and Tim in order to keep the railway's head above water.

Stuart was built by Kerr Stuart & Co at their California Works in Stoke-on-Trent, England in 1920 to their standard industrial pattern. He was delivered by rail to Cronk and hauled from there to the Mid Sodor Railway's station at Peel Godred by traction engine. Following a pattern of the MSR naming its engines after their builders, he was named "Stuart"

Jim was a green narrow gauge tank engine who worked on the Mid Sodor Railway until 1936. 
Jim was purchased some time in the early 1900s for the Mid Sodor Railway and was given the number 6. Jim pulled "The Horse and Cart" (the railway's goods train) and occasionally did mineral traffic.
