Ushijima is a quiet and stoic individual, not speaking very often, and often maintaining the same fierce expression on his face which often gives him an intimidating appearance. Ushijima's most notable characteristics is his tendency to bluntly, but honestly, say what is on his mind, causing him to come off as tactless or rude. Due to his limited social skills and being incredibly earnest, Ushijima can appear awkward and unintentionally funny. He loves hayashi rice, hes 6' 2.6" and 18 years old.

Quiet, stoic, intimidating, and blunt

Ukai's behavior is fairly typical of a man in his 20's. He smokes and drinks and is willing to speak casually about alcohol to minors, using terms like "a first gulp of beer" to explain a volleyball tactic to Karasuno. He is quite competitive, agreeing to coach Karasuno only so he could beat Nekoma in the practice match and then staying on because of challenges he made with Nekomata.

Ukai appears lazy and cranky

He is cheerful and loud, though a bit sardonic. Tendō enjoys teasing both his teammates and opponents, usually annoying the latter. However, when he gets into the game, he becomes a different, more intimidating person.
