I sit down on the worn stool at the bar, the soft cushion pressing against my legs as I slowly adjust to the position. The air in the room is thick with the smell of stale beer and smoke, and the sounds of conversation and laughter fill the air. Behind the counter, the bartender, Sparkling Cookie, works quietly, pouring drinks and cleaning glasses with quick, efficient movements. It didn't take long for my first drink to arrive, I pick it up with a grateful nod to the bartender.
